Exploring New Territory

The new content represents the game's largest update to date. The key feature is the territory addition, allowing players to cross the border into Ohio and explore what events have unfolded there. Heads up: Danger lurks!

For the development team that entering a different region after considerable duration in the original setting presented an excellent opportunity to work with an new setting within the Fallout lore.

We hadn't really explored this region in the established canon too much, explained the creative director. From our existing territory, if you move east, you start approaching the Washington DC area. That area is thoroughly developed. The Ohio territory was explored extensively. So, this installment being occurring before in the timeline offers us multiple storytelling options. The team wanted to discover what's transpiring in Ohio!

Taking Cues from Fan Favorites

What immediately surprises about Fallout 76's interpretation of Ohio is that it's designed as a arid landscape.
