Chopper Twirls Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Well-Known Southern California Shoreline
An aircraft soaring over a popular California shoreline suddenly began spiraling uncontrollably, finally descending rapidly and crashing into a row of palm groves as beachgoers watched.
Videos uploaded on social media show the chopper commencing to spiral over Huntington Beach then plunging towards the edge of the coast, where it becomes wedged between palm groves and a staircase adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.
First Aid Update
Local firefighters reported five individuals were taken to hospital including two who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the incident on Saturday.
Three persons on the road were harmed. Specifics on their condition were not yet released.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
