Attorney General Announces Inquiry into Trump Adversaries and Jeffrey Epstein Connections

This past Friday, the Attorney General assigned interim US attorney Jay Clayton to oversee an inquiry into opponents of the President and their connections with Jeffrey Epstein. This move came shortly after Trump ordered her to launch the investigation.

During an announcement, Bondi commended Jay Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. The official added, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”

This action contrasts with a recent memorandum from federal authorities which declared that the Epstein files lacked grounds for additional investigations. According to the memo, authorities “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”

The President Calls for Focus on Political Opponents in the Epstein Case

This news coincides with increasing demands from the president on lawmakers to oppose the full release of Epstein-related documents before an key congressional decision next week. Several lawmakers are expected to back the release.

Recently released emails from Jeffrey Epstein have highlighted the president’s past involvement with the sex trafficker, including details that he was more aware of Epstein’s actions than earlier acknowledged.

On Friday, Trump declared he would direct the Department of Justice to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, including Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also described the “Epstein situation” as a “deception”.
